Rachel’s two favorite scents are geranium and ylang ylang. $10 from the sale of every bottle is donated to Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.
Rachel’s son Jesse was born with CHARGE syndrome, resulting in profound deafness (a total lack of hearing). Rachel and Jesse’s father both learned British Sign Language to speak with their son, paying nearly £6,000 because 56% of local authorities in England do not provide any sign language services for families while 44% provide various levels of support. She has since become a vocal advocate for disability rights and parents of deaf children to have free access to learning sign language.
Jesse attends Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, a charity – 190 years strong – that runs a day and residential school and college for students throughout the UK for children from the age of 4 years old through to 24 years. The Academy also supports deaf students in mainstream schools and colleges through outreach service, and meets the wider needs of the deaf community through a range of deaf services and projects. Exeter is not funded in the same way as state schools and therefore relies on fundraising support and volunteers to help change the lives of deaf people.
