PERFUME (a poem)
PERFUME
(For James)
Wafting gently across the air
or perhaps affronting your senses
like the crash of a thunderclap,
found and procured,
these fragrances
tie us together.
Memories of long ago,
forgotten times,
suddenly brought to mind,
so fresh and crisp,
with a simple whiff.
Distilled with care,
drop by drop,
and applied ever so
deliberately,
these perfumes
deliver to us
all something a little
different,
something that belongs to
each their own.
